Calliacher 'Plan B' Announced Full body text of announcment received by ASWAG from I&H Brown Thursday the 1st of Novemeber 2007: "Please
note that we intend exhibiting our plans for a reduced Calliachar wind
farm in the Amulree Village Hall on Thursday 15th November from 4pm
until 7pm." Calliacher Rejected by Scottish Government "Ministers accept the Reporter's findings of fact, conclusions and recommendations and conclude the proposals would not be in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Perth and Kinross Development Plan and that there would be an unacceptable visual impact on Glen Quaich and on Loch Freuchie. " The Scottish Government - News Site No news on the larger Griffin Forest development however - the below is also a quote from the Scottish Government website "The DPEA report from the conjoined Inquiry held in respect of the Calliacher and Griffin wind farms has been withheld at this stage, until the Griffin consent application is determined by Scottish Ministers." AMEC join in the madness! Not content to wait to see if the large scale neighbouring windfarm developments are given the go ahead, another multi-national conglomerate is pressing ahead with its plans that could see Strathbraan & Amulree surrounded by a ring of steel and concrete to 'save the environment'. AMEC are now proposing to install 14 turbines as opposed to the 40 that were in the original scoping; however, given the recent trend to increase the number of turbines at numerous windfarms around the country, many see this as a cynical 'toe in the door' tactic. This application has now been submitted. PLEASE see our 'What You Can Do' page for objection details Still awaiting outcome of Conjoined Calliacher & Griffin Public Inquiry We still have not been given any idea of when the reporter will announce his decision. However, we are hopeful of a positive outcome, especially given the behaviour of and tactics employed by GreenPower in particular.
